Young People & Children

Welcome to all!! Everyone is welcome at St Mary's, regardless of age. We are a child-friendly church, and hope you and your children will feel at home here.

We love children to take part in our services and hope they will enjoy worshipping with us. There are toys and books available in the bean-bag corner at the front of the church on the left. Please feel free to help yourselves, take them back to your seat or to accompany the children sitting on the beanbags. There is also a soundproof room upstairs at the back of church where you can still hear the service. You are welcome to use this with young children if they (or you!) need to let off a bit more steam!!

Toilet facilities are also situated at the back of the church, on the right.

For safety reasons it is essential that parents supervise children at all times.

Children's Church

Meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month during term-time. Children from 3 -12 years can be dropped at St Mary's Centre from 10.20am. There is also a group for children under 3's and their parents. All groups have fun learning about the day's theme through story-telling, play, singing and craft, at a level appropriate for their age group. At around 11.15am everyone walks over to the church to join in the final part of the Communion service, and receive a blessing.

Youth Cafe

In conjunction with Aylesbury Vale Youth for Christ, St Mary's Church runs a youth cafe for teenagers in school years 7 and upwards. It is held every Tuesday afternoon (in termtime) from 4-6pm at the Youth & Community Centre, next to the Junior School. A variety of outdoor games, craft activities, games consoles and  refreshments are on offer.

Little People's Cafeplus+

On the second Wednesday of every month we run a Cafeplus+ for babies,  toddlers and their parents or carers from 9.15 to midday in St Mary's Centre. With singing, story time, craft activities, snacks and lots of time for free play it's great fun for all involved.

 Children at Cafeplus+

Cafeplus+ is held on the first Sunday of each month in the village hall from 9.30am - 12noon. A range of bible-based craft activities for children aged 3yrs and upwards is available. For the under 3's there is a play area next to the crafts where parents can meet and chat over coffee and breakfast. We would love to welcome you to this fun session where the whole family can get involved, especially to share in the delicious breakfast, fresh coffee, tea and milkshakes!

Cell Groups

Our youth cell groups for young people in school years 7 -13, meet in the Youth Room in St Marys’ Centre from 4.30 to 6pm on Sunday afternoons during term time. These are informal sessions in an armchair environment in which life application of Bible teaching is led by adults. Members are given time to socialise before being encouraged to discuss the relevance of Bible teaching to everyday situations in the modern world. Hot drinks and nibbles are provided.

We are a partner Church in this holiday week held in Thame each summer, which attracts over 800 children with around 300 adult volunteer helpers every year. Lighthouse provides an opportunity for children and young people to participate in sports, craft and music and through songs, fun activities and talks to learn more about God and understand what difference Christian values can make to all our lives.
