Christmas 2019

As always St Mary's has a variety of special services and events in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Posada

The idea of a posada (an inn) originated in Mexico. Some years ago we started our own Haddenham Posada with the knitted doll figures of Mary, Joseph - and the donkey - visiting families for one or two nights during the weeks before Christmas. Using dolls helps even young children to understand the Christmas story in a visual and tangible way, and gives parents an opportunity to talk about the real meaning of Christmas with their families.

A diary accompanies Mary & Joseph and each family is invited to record how they welcomed their visitors. Many families take photos, some older children write about the visit and the donkey goes to bed with a few toddlers!

This year, two sets of Mary, Joseph and donkey will be again travelling around the village and any family wishing to be involved is very welcome. Please contact Tricia Stradling 01844 291607 for more details.
