Youth
Activate is led by a small adult team and caters for children aged 3-11. They meet in two groups on the second and fourth Sunday mornings in St Mary’s Centre after an initial family time together in church. Scripture Union published material is used to help children discover the bible and the foundations of our faith. Amaze is the group for youn people aged 12+. After a short time all together with Activate they have their own meeting on the second and fourth Sunday mornings in St. Mary's Centre. Any young person aged 12 or over is welcome to join - please contact the Amaze team for more information
Five youth cell groups involve around forty young people. These are peer-led and meet in homes, with an adult mentor present for consultation. Groups meet weekly with three of the cells joining together once each month for a social time before dividing into their groups. Study material for the groups is prepared by church members to meet the particular needs of the groups.
We are a partner Church in this holiday week held in Thame each summer which attracted 750 children and over 320 adult volunteer helpers in 2009 (our second year). Lighthouse provides an opportunity for children and young people to participate in sports, craft and music and through songs, fun activities and talks to learn more about God and understand what difference Christian values can make to all our lives.
