Study Notes 7 - The Big Story - 'Four Gospels One Jesus'

Reading:

Luke 1: 1-4   Mark 4: 1-20

Aim:

  • Each gospel gives us a different insight into the nature of Christ.

  • Each gospel needs to be looked at alongside the other three.

  • Each gospel is God given.

  • Jesus isn’t limited to the gospels.

Questions for individuals and groups:

  • Look at the four gospel accounts of The Feeding of the Five Thousand (Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-13) How are the four versions similar? How are they different? What does each of the four versions tell us about the nature of Jesus?

  • Substitute the name ‘Jesus’ for the word ‘he’ in Psalm 23. Discuss, meditate and pray about each of the verses separately.

  • As a group, try retelling a parable in a modern day, Haddenham setting. What aspect of Christ do you want to highlight? How will you do this?
