Christenings

St. MarBaptism Fonty's offers christening for babies, young people and adults. It's our privilege to be involved in people’s lives at such an important time for them.

Like other Anglican churches, we understand christening (also known as baptism), as the beginning of a person’s life with God in the church. This important service, is a serious occasion when promises are made before God and we would like to help you understand these promises so your celebration can be meaningful. If you are interested in discussing christening with us, please email the office, so we can arrange for you to meet one of the team. We will explain what we do at St Mary's and give you something to read about the meaning of a christening service. If you would then like to go ahead, you will need to complete an application form, available from the parish office. If you are new to the church, one of our ministers will arrange to meet with you at a service in church where you can experience worship with us.  Children are very welcome at our services, or may prefer to join in with Children's Church (our Sunday school) if they prefer.

You will also need to attend a Preparation evening.

Christening is a great opportunity for the whole family to join in the life of the local church if they don't already belong. We leave it to you to decide of course – but we encourage people to see this as the start of a journey of faith with God, and with us at St. Mary's.

If you are not sure about the christening process, we also offer a service of Thanksgiving. Please contact us to find out more about this. If you have already been baptised(christened) as a baby or a child and wish to consciously affirm your faith in God, we hold an occasional service called Confirmation.
