Marathon running for DHF Cambodia

DHF have 3 runners running The Virtual London Marathon 2021 in Thame on Sunday 3rd October.

The Dignity and Hope Foundation, Cambodia (DHF) was set up in 2013 to support organisations and individuals in Cambodia who DHF have a personal relationship with.  We have supported Kone Kmeng in the past  who have encouraged children to get a fuller education, giving families micro loans to help them get themselves out of poverty and live a life with dignity and hope.

More recently we have been funding emergency food parcels for Cambodians who are not able to get enough food to feed their families due to Covid lockdowns.  Cambodia have had harsh lockdowns, minimising travel to local areas, and although their infection rates and deaths are low compared to the UK, it has had a devastating effect on poverty.  There are no food grants from the government to help families put food on their table, so our local heroes Phany, Sophea, Sokleap and Torn who we support have done just this.  We are immensely inspired by the work our Cambodian partners have done and are doing, their love for their people and their desire to make Cambodia a better place.

We would be really grateful for your support with one or more of the following -

1. to pray for Sunday’s Marathon.  To keep the runners safe from illness and injury free on the day.  To have good weather for running and that the support team remember to take everything that is needed. Also, the runners have to record their 26.2 miles electronically.  Please pray that this runs smoothly.

2. to come and support in person.

The runners will be running the circuit 4 times starting from Sycamore Drive in Thame OX9 2AT at 8.30am.  They head down past the back of St Mary’s in Thame, across the Aylesbury Road, down Wellington Street, Kings Road, Queens Road and out of Thame on Towersey Road all the way to Towersey.  In Towersey they then pick up the Phoenix Trail all the way back to Thame to Sycamore Drive at the back of Lord Williams Upper School.

3. to donate -  giving pages for our 3 runners are below.  A small amount goes a long way in Cambodia.  A recent care package cost US $35.
