Our Community

St Mary’s, Haddenham Community

Haddenham is a large, historic village surrounded by farmland in Aylesbury Vale District. Far from being a rural backwater, with its Chiltern Main Line railway station and ready access to the M40, Haddenham is well connected and also forward thinking. Amongst many assets there are two infant schools and a junior school, a youth and community centre, Scout centre, play areas, library, medical centre, allotments, nature reserve, community orchard, pubs, cafes and an Indian Restaurant! You will also find business and industrial areas with several internationally recognised firms.

St Mary’s Church crowns the area of Church Green, featuring the largest of several village ponds, a grassed space and the war memorial. Here is where a range of celebrations, commemorations and remembrances take place surrounded by some of the village’s charming built heritage. Behind the church, along the footpath through the churchyard, is St Mary’s Church of England School.

New homes are allocated for three new village developments and the population is set to grow from around 4,500 to 7,000 over the next decade. This thriving community benefits from villagers’ membership of a multitude of local organisations alongside interest and faith groups and there is strong support for the many facilities on offer for sports, fitness and recreation. In the 21st century, Haddenham is still growing, still adapting and is still a great place to live.

St Mary’s, Haddenham Buildings

Our magnificently situated church building has been home for many years to a thriving Christian community. Our church services offer a variety of worship styles and activities to suit everyone. Children are very welcome. There is a crèche room for the very young in church, and also a Children's Church. There is a loop system in church for those with hearing difficulties.

St Mary's also has a centre located in the historic St Mary's school building which is used by many local clubs and organisations to hold events and is available for public hiring.
